Interledger.social: a Mastodon server for testing Web Monetization in ActivityPub

I helped the Interledger Foundation join the social web! Follow @Interledger@interledger.social from any Mastodon or other social web/fediverse app.

Today, Interledger.social uses the current released version of Mastodon. Soon, it will use an experimental version of Mastodon with the Web Monetization features I am contributing to the project as part of my fellowship. The foundation welcomes people interested in testing Web Monetization with ActivityPub to create an account on its Mastodon community server.

Mastodon is similar to Twitter. The biggest difference between Mastodon and Twitter is that Mastodon is decentralized. No single company controls the social network. Instead, Mastodon uses a network of thousands of independently managed community servers. Once you join a community server, you can interact with people who use any other server. It’s similar to how we can send email to each other without having to all use Gmail.
